Thompson Named Student of the Week
By Shannon Smith

Kenya Thompson has been selected as Greene Central’s Student of the Week for the second week in April.
Thompson was nominated by JROTC instructor Dennis Bottoms and received this recognition because she’s a great people person and is always on task.
“Kenya conducts herself in an orderly manner, and she always does as she’s told. Cadet Thompson has set an example by volunteering, assisting others, and always being first to accomplish the task,” comment Bottoms.
This semester Thompson is taking JROTC LET II, English 11, U.S. History, and Physical Science.
“My favorite class would have to be JROTC. I love everything we do in there,” said Thompson.
In Thompson’s free time, she enjoys playing basketball and hanging out with her friends. She enjoys Nicholas Spark’s books, and her favorite is A Walk to Remember.
She attends Farmville Community Fellowship Church and is very active in the youth group there.
After high school, Thompson plans on attending Fayetteville State and majoring in Cosmetology.
“I really enjoy doing people’s hair, and I like being around people in general,” commented Thompson.
She resides with Trica Forbes of Walstonburg.
